Vertaal pagina's voor een meertalige WordPress-site (Classic editor)

Deze GraphQL query helpt bij het aanmaken van een meertalige site waarbij elke site de vertaling voor een bepaalde taal is. De inhoud is gebaseerd op de Classic editor en is het meest geschikt voor een WordPress multisite-netwerk.

Voor deze query moet het endpoint Geneste Mutaties hebben ingeschakeld.

De query moet worden uitgevoerd op de master-site (met de broninhoud), waarop de bundel "Power Extensions" geïnstalleerd moet zijn. Alle andere sites in het netwerk kunnen de gratis Gato GraphQL-plugin gebruiken.

Een Application Password wordt gebruikt om verbinding te maken met de netwerksites. Zorg ervoor dat je de variabelen $username en $appPassword opgeeft voor een gebruiker met toegang tot alle sites.

De query haalt de taal op van de hoofdsite en van de externe site, en vergelijkt deze:

  • Als ze gelijk zijn, worden alle pagina's gewoon gerepliceerd
  • Als ze verschillen, worden alle pagina's gerepliceerd met vertaalde inhoud

(Op deze manier worden alle pagina's nog steeds gerepliceerd als de hoofdsite de taal en heeft en een andere site in het netwerk ook en heeft.)

Vervolgens haalt het de pagina's op van de master-site en vertaalt ze (indien nodig) allemaal tegelijk naar de taal van de doelsite, door een enkele aanroep van de Google Translate API uit te voeren.

Ten slotte worden al die pagina's aangemaakt op de externe site.
